From a well-deserved spring holiday and an Opsahl Global Service Program trip to Thailand to Elementary School Book Week and celebrations of academic, athletic, and co-curricular successes, we take a photo-driven look at the past month at TASIS. The month began with students and faculty enjoying a rejuvenating spring break, with many traveling to explore new cultures or returning home to spend time with family. Upon their return, a group of dedicated students embarked on an Opsahl Global Service Program trip to Thailand, where they engaged in meaningful service projects, immersed themselves in local traditions, and developed a deeper understanding of global citizenship. Meanwhile, on campus, the Elementary School buzzed with excitement during Book Week, featuring author visits, dress-up days, and reading challenges that fostered a love of literature among young learners. The month also saw numerous accolades across academics, athletics, and the arts, including impressive performances in spring sports tournaments and recognition for student achievements in Model United Nations and music competitions.
The Opsahl Global Service Program trip to Thailand was a highlight of the month, as students worked alongside local communities on sustainable initiatives, such as building water filtration systems and teaching English at a rural school. This hands-on experience not only contributed to the host community but also allowed TASIS students to reflect on their roles as global citizens. Back in Switzerland, Elementary School Book Week transformed the campus into a literary wonderland, with students dressing as their favorite book characters and participating in interactive storytelling sessions. The week culminated in a book fair that raised funds for new library resources. In athletics, the varsity soccer and volleyball teams secured victories in regional tournaments, while the cross-country team set new personal records. Academically, students celebrated success in the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) exams, with several earning high distinctions. The arts were also in the spotlight, as the Middle School drama club performed a sold-out production of "The Lion King Jr.," showcasing remarkable talent and teamwork.
