In March, students and boarders in Grades 7 to 12 participated in one of 瑞士尚贝缇国际学校’s most cherished traditions: the annual Ski Camp. For four days, the group explored the snowy peaks of Fiescheralp, a Swiss mountain resort in Valais. The camp's programme was designed to offer something for everyone, catering to both skiers and non-skiers. Skiers of all ability levels had the opportunity to refine their technique with professional lessons from the Swiss Ski School, building confidence in downhill racing. For those not on skis, the mountains offered a different kind of playground. Activities such as cross-country skiing, tobogganing, sledding, and ice sculpting ensured everyone could enjoy the fresh alpine air and stunning scenery. The programme also included valuable practical education, with some students receiving training in mountain safety, including avalanche victim search and rescue procedures.
Beyond the slopes, the camp fostered connection and shared adventure. Students and staff were accommodated at the Fiesch Sport Resort, which provided additional facilities like indoor climbing and swimming. The surrounding village and Alps became the backdrop for memorable group experiences. These included a lively disco night, a competitive dodgeball tournament, ice skating, and cozy evenings roasting marshmallows over a fire. For the particularly adventurous, there was even an option to camp overnight in a tent at 2,000 metres altitude. This immersive experience is a cornerstone of the school's philosophy, where camps, excursions, and trips serve as vital learning and bonding opportunities. They allow relationships between students and teachers to flourish beyond the traditional classroom setting, strengthening the school community and broadening student horizons. The successful execution of the camp was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the organising team, sports teachers, and all accompanying staff.
