在 瑞士尚贝缇国际学校, Earth Week brought primary students back from the Easter break with a focus on nature and sustainability. The celebrations began with beekeeping workshops led by Cedric, the school’s beekeeper and member of the Swiss Printemps d'abeilles Association. Students in preschool and classes 4A and 4B learned about the vital role of bees in the ecosystem through pictures and toys, followed by honey-tasting and candle-making using beeswax. Staff also had the opportunity to visit the school’s private beehive. Birdwatching workshops for classes 1A, 1B, 2A, and 2B allowed students to use telescopes to observe birds on campus and identify species by birdsong. On Earth Day, April 22nd, a book swap for Grades 1 to 4 encouraged students to exchange pre-loved books, promoting both sustainability and a love for reading.
The week concluded with a pony visit that brought joy to preschool and Grade 1 and 2 students. Children interacted with friendly ponies by feeding, petting, and brushing them, experiencing a noticeable calming effect. Romane, an older student, shared that the visit fulfilled one of her dreams. These hands-on activities underscore the school’s commitment to connecting children with nature from a young age, enhancing wellbeing and environmental awareness. Earth Week may be over, but at 瑞士尚贝缇国际学校, learning in nature continues throughout the year.
