Inside Collège Champittet’s Teacher Training: Building Excellence Before Day One

As educators, the community at Collège Champittet is committed to nurturing lifelong learners – and that commitment extends just as much to teachers and staff as it does to students. Before welcoming students back to school, teachers and staff gathered for several days of learning, collaboration and connection, paving the way for a successful academic year ahead.

In mid-August, the Human Resources team organised a two-day induction programme to welcome new teachers and staff members. Designed to foster a sense of community from day one, the induction gave newcomers an opportunity to meet their colleagues, learn about life at the school and become familiar with its culture and values. This early welcome reflects a deliberate effort to ensure that every new member of the team feels supported and integrated before the demands of the academic term begin.

Before the new term began, all teachers and staff were welcomed back for two days of professional development. Teachers and staff engaged in team-building exercises that focused on the theme of languages and cultures, celebrating the international spirit of the school while forming connections across departments and disciplines. These activities were designed not only to strengthen relationships but also to reinforce the shared identity of a diverse and globally minded faculty.

Through various workshops, participants explored topics such as educational technology, behaviour management, teaching strategies, student support and curriculum development. These dedicated sessions gave departments time to collaborate, exchange best practices and prepare for the upcoming school year. By addressing both practical classroom skills and broader pedagogical themes, the programme ensured that teachers and staff could return to their roles with fresh ideas and a shared sense of purpose.

As part of the Nord Anglia Education family of schools, teachers at Collège Champittet benefit from continuous learning opportunities throughout the year. By investing in professional development, the school fosters teaching excellence and provides the best possible conditions for students to thrive. This ongoing commitment means that learning is not confined to a few days before term begins, but is embedded in the professional life of every educator.

As a new academic year begins, the school looks forward to putting shared insights into practice and helping every student reach their full potential. The combination of induction, team-building and sustained professional development reflects a holistic approach to staff growth that ultimately benefits the entire learning community.
