More than 70 alumni and guests from the Class of 2016 returned to campus for their 10-year reunion on the evening of July 4. Despite a heat wave with temperatures reaching 35 °C, the group was delighted to be back together at TASIS. Alumni traveled from the US, Austria, Turkey, Canada, Japan, Brazil, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, Taiwan, and Colombia. Several classmates who met at TASIS have since married, and one couple is even expecting their first child. Pablo Tello Zuluaga successfully urged his classmates to attend, leading to a record 74 attendees for a 10-year reunion. Warm hugs and hellos started at check-in and continued through campus. KC McKee, their former Dean of Students and now Associate Director of Advancement, welcomed them warmly and reminisced about what a terrific class they were.
After a presentation on the future of TASIS, KC and Director of Alumni Relations Michelle Arslanian Naroyan split the group for campus tours. A happy bottleneck occurred in the Palestra snack bar, now Convivio, where alumni crowded in while TASIS Summer Program students graciously shared the space. The tour continued through the tunnel under Fiammetta toward the Şahenk Fine Arts Center. The reunion achieved the largest number of people crammed under the Lanterna arch for a photo op. The tour concluded at Villa de Nobili, followed by a Prom-Commencement-style group shot on the lawn before welcome drinks and appetizers in Casa Fleming garden. The class boasts a variety of professions, including biogenetic medicine, AI instruction, creative design, and law. Alumni excitedly discussed future reunions and returning to TASIS or sending their children there. The evening ended with gratitude and promises to attend all-class reunions in New York and Los Angeles.
