Collège Champittet Charity Evening Raises CHF 257,000 for Burn Victims

On 9 May, the 瑞士尚贝缇国际学校 Foundation hosted a charity dinner at the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne, drawing a record 250 guests in a powerful display of solidarity. The event was dedicated to supporting children with severe burns and their families following the tragedy in Crans-Montana. Through an auction led by Hôtel des Ventes Piguet, a raffle, and the sale of chocolate flowers provided by EHL, the evening raised an impressive CHF 257,000. These funds will alleviate the financial burden on affected families, covering medical expenses not included by insurance, as well as indirect costs such as transportation, accommodation during hospital stays, medical equipment, and childcare for siblings. A medical team led by Professor Anthony DeBuys-Roessingh—a Champittet alumnus and coordinator of the burns unit at Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV)—is collaborating with the Foundation to ensure sustainable, long-term assistance for the families.

Beyond fundraising, the charity evening conveyed a message of hope through moving testimonies from guest speakers and heartfelt musical performances by professional musicians associated with the Champittet community and talented student musicians. Guests also contributed to a collaborative “Origami for Life” art project by Belgian designer Charles Kaisin, inspired by the Japanese legend that folding 1,000 origami figures brings good luck. The Champittet community—including dinner participants and students—folded 7,000 origami pieces, exceeding the project’s requirement. Special appreciation goes to class 10-D, Jane D., and Matia N. for their outstanding dedication. The origami will be unveiled during the June Promotions as a collective installation depicting a dove, a universal symbol of peace, and will be placed in the school chapel as a lasting reminder of hope. The Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to sponsors, participants, and everyone whose attendance and generosity made the evening a success.
