At the heart of Collège Champittet's ethos is the commitment to nurturing students both academically and personally, a tradition upheld for over 120 years. The school's chaplaincy plays a pivotal role in this mission, offering a range of spiritual activities designed to support students in exploring and deepening their faith. This year, the end of the academic term was marked by significant spiritual milestones for students preparing for their First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Students in Grades 4 to 7 embarked on a two-day retreat at the serene Notre-Dame de Géronde Monastery in Saint-Maurice. Here, amidst the tranquility and guided by the Bernardine Sisters, they engaged in reflections, attended mass, and participated in confession, enriching their spiritual understanding. Similarly, those preparing for Confirmation found solace and contemplation during their retreat in Estavayer-le-Lac, setting the stage for their upcoming sacrament.
The spiritual journey culminated on June 19th with the Corpus Christi Mass at the Sacré-Cœur Church in Lausanne, a day of profound significance for the Collège Champittet community. Families and members of the school gathered to witness over a dozen students receive their First Communion and six students their Confirmation, ceremonies blessed by Father Philippe Matthey and Father Jean-Pascal Vacher. The mass was elevated by musical performances from the school's choir and instrumentalists, creating an atmosphere of reverence and joy. This event not only celebrated the students' spiritual milestones but also underscored the school's dedication to fostering a sense of community and shared faith. The collective efforts of organizers, families, and the students themselves highlighted the enduring value of spiritual growth within the educational journey.
