David and Jordan Smith Share Remarkable Journey With TASIS Students

The latest updates from TASIS highlight a vibrant array of activities and learning experiences. February 2025 kicked off with International Week, bringing students together through cultural celebrations, academic excursions, and immersive classroom discussions. A notable highlight was the engaging presentation by David and Jordan Smith, founders of Climate Advocates Voces Unidas, who shared their impactful journey with seniors at the Palmer Cultural Center. Their visit, part of the 2024–2025 TASIS Speaker Series, provided valuable insights into environmental advocacy and leadership. Meanwhile, an enriching Academic Travel program took students to Geneva and Bern, where they visited CERN, the Mühleberg hydroelectric plant, and the Einstein House, capturing remarkable moments of discovery through photography. Additionally, alumni remains an integral part of TASIS, with the latest Alumni Notes featuring inspiring stories from diverse fields, including technology, art, and travel. Such initiatives reinforce the institution’s mission to offer a well-rounded education that extends beyond textbooks and classrooms, preparing students for leadership roles in a globalized world.

Community engagement remains a core pillar at *TASIS*, as exemplified by the continued growth of the Intergenerations program. This Service Learning initiative connects 10th-grade students with residents of Al Pagnolo, a retirement home in Sorengo. The initiative fosters meaningful relationships across generations, enriching both students and residents alike. Meanwhile, the Senior Ski Trip in Laax allowed students to bond over snow-filled adventures, including skiing, snowshoeing, and ice skating, fostering camaraderie and resilience. The rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) program has also been a focal point, with 11th-grade students reflecting on their experiences navigating its demanding academic landscape. As International Week officially commenced on February 17, students proudly participated in the Parade of Flags, representing 68 nations and celebrating TASIS’ commitment to diversity and unity. Furthermore, the school's Model UN team recently shined at the THIMUN Conference in The Hague, demonstrating their diplomacy and negotiation skills on the global stage. These activities collectively underscore TASIS' dedication to providing students with unparalleled educational and extracurricular opportunities that shape them into global citizens.
