The holiday season at Collège Champittet is a powerful demonstration of its annual theme of 'Compassion'. In December, the school community engaged in multiple initiatives focused on giving back, supporting those in need both locally and internationally. A key effort was led by the parent association, APEC, which organized a successful collection of gently used toys for EVAM, an organization in Vaud that assists asylum seekers, unaccompanied minors, and other migrants. This initiative provided tangible support to vulnerable families during the festive period. Furthermore, students participated in the 25th annual Gift Box Project, preparing unisex gift boxes and school backpacks for underprivileged children aged 4 to 14 in Eastern Europe. For many of these children, living well below the poverty line, these were the first gifts they had ever received, spreading joy and hope through direct student action.
The spirit of giving extended to essential needs through a food bank donation drive for Cartons de Coeur, a local non-profit. The Collège Champittet community contributed canned food, pasta, sugar, and other pantry staples to support disadvantaged families and individuals. In a critical act of community service, parents and staff also volunteered at a blood drive hosted by neighboring Tetra Pak, contributing vital donations to help ensure Switzerland's blood supply. Beyond material donations, students embraced a 'Reverse Advent Calendar', performing daily acts of kindness such as donating a bar of soap, paying a compliment, or calling a family member. The season culminated in the school's Christmas Market, which brought the community together over hot drinks, homemade treats, and workshops. All proceeds were donated to the Champittet Foundation school in Madagascar and the Maison des Enfants, turning festive celebration into meaningful financial support for educational and children's causes.
