At Collège Champittet, students are actively encouraged to take initiative and lead with passion, creating opportunities for meaningful community engagement. The school provides numerous platforms for learners to organize purposeful events, whether through participation in the Philanthropy Club or by spearheading CAS projects as part of the IB Diploma Programme. These initiatives exemplify the school's commitment to developing socially responsible leaders. In September, students demonstrated this commitment through two remarkable community events: an environmental clean-up of Lake Geneva and a charitable chess tournament supporting humanitarian causes. These activities reflect the school's educational philosophy that extends beyond academics to include character development and community service. The student-led projects showcase how young learners at Collège Champittet are empowered to make tangible differences in their local and global communities, embodying values of service, responsibility, and environmental stewardship. The school's approach fosters a culture where students don't just learn about making positive changes but actively create them, developing leadership skills and social consciousness through hands-on experience.
The environmental initiative saw Champittet students, family members, and friends collaborate on September 27th to clean the shores of Lake Geneva. Volunteers worked with remarkable energy and positivity along a two-kilometer stretch from Haldimand Tower to the port in Pully. Equipped with gloves and collection bags, participants meticulously removed litter from the shoreline, demonstrating the core values of the student Philanthropy Club: service, responsibility, and care for our shared world. The event brought together members of the Champittet community across all age groups, creating an intergenerational effort toward environmental conservation. Following the clean-up, participants gathered for refreshments and community bonding, strengthening relationships while celebrating their collective achievement. Simultaneously, the school hosted a chess tournament organized by a boarding student, attracting players aged seven and above from multiple international schools across the region. The tournament featured ten exhilarating rounds of chess that not only developed young players' strategic thinking skills but also supported charitable work. All registration fee profits were donated to the Collège Champittet Foundation to support children in need, making the event a perfect blend of intellectual development and compassion. These student-led initiatives powerfully demonstrate how Champittet's educational values translate into real-world action and community benefit.
