A painting by Ana Azpeitia, an Art & Design and Visual Arts teacher at Institut Montana Zugerberg, has been selected for the prominent Stadt Zug exhibition, Mensch & Nature Plakatausstellung. The work, titled “Manicured Fields,” is a compelling composition of bright-coloured geometric lines that, at first glance, presents a common landscape with a mountain panorama. The vertical arrangement of overlapping geometric patterns evokes the impression of cultivated fields stretching toward the horizon. While the piece is inspired by the landscapes of the canton of Zug, it is not a depiction of a specific location. The title itself hints at the painting's deeper, conceptual message, which explores the profound effects of human agricultural use on the land and the increasing scarcity of unspoiled wilderness. This selection serves as a significant professional accolade for the artist-educator, highlighting the creative excellence fostered within the school's community.
Born in Madrid in 1972, Ana earned her master’s degree in Fine Arts with a focus on painting from the Complutense University of Madrid in 1996. She has been working and residing in the canton of Zug since 2009. At Institut Montana Zugerberg, she imparts her expertise by teaching Art & Design to students in the CLSP and IGCSE programmes of the International School section, as well as Visual Arts within the rigorous IB Diploma Programme. Her artistic practice, which spans drawing, painting, and installation, is characterized by a signature combination of geometric shapes and lines interconnected in organic systems, a defining element prominently featured in “Manicured Fields.” The painting masterfully employs diminishing proportions and atmospheric perspective to create an illusion of expansive depth, showcasing her technical skill and conceptual depth. This exhibition provides a public platform for her work, aligning with the show's theme of Mensch & Nature (Human and Nature), and is on display at the lake of Zug next to Alpenquai from August 27 to October 25.
