Going the distance: Champittet athletes celebrate team spirit with outdoor sports

The spring season at Collège Champittet has been marked by an impressive display of athleticism and team spirit, despite the unpredictable weather. The school's commitment to promoting health and wellbeing through outdoor sports has seen students of all ages participating enthusiastically in various events. Among these, the Lausanne 20 KM race stood out, with 426 members of the Collège Champittet community, including students, family members, and staff, taking part. This event, which attracts over 33,000 runners, was a testament to the school's values, with participants excelling across all categories. The day was highlighted by the unifying power of sport, as noted by librarian Gallia Chevalier, who emphasized the team spirit and shared values that such events foster among participants.

Further showcasing the school's vibrant sports culture, the annual Sports Day on May 13th brought together junior and senior students for a day filled with athletic competitions. Junior students engaged in a variety of sports activities on campus, while senior students competed at the Pierre-de-Coubertin Stadium in Lausanne. The event featured a wide range of sports, from traditional track and field events like shot put and 100 m sprints to team sports such as basketball and football. The day was not only about competition but also about community, with the school's maintenance team serving lunch to 525 senior students, reinforcing the bond within the school community. Additionally, the ADISR Cross-Country event in Chalet-à-Gobet saw around 100 Champittet runners among 400 participants from 10 schools. The event was a display of solidarity and commitment, with older students supporting the younger ones and notable achievements by individuals like Zachary and Côme, who secured top positions in their categories. The day concluded with a communal meal, symbolizing the camaraderie and shared experiences that define the school's approach to sports.
