The 13th edition of the Alpina Cup once again brought together students from Le Rosey and their counterparts from Gstaad for a day of spirited athletic competition across two winter sports disciplines. This annual event, steeped in tradition, showcases not only athletic prowess but also the enduring camaraderie between these prestigious institutions. On February 8th, the snowy slopes and the ice rink became the arenas for this friendly yet fiercely contested rivalry, continuing a legacy that emphasizes sportsmanship and mutual respect alongside competitive drive.
The day's events unfolded with distinct challenges in each sport. On the piste, the downhill ski races were heavily influenced by the prevailing snowy conditions, which ultimately favored the Gstaad team, allowing them to secure victories in these events. The focus then shifted to the ice hockey rink, where the competition reached its climax. Following a narrow defeat in the previous year's tournament, the young team from Rosey returned with renewed determination and focus. The hockey match proved to be a thrilling and closely contested battle, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats until the final buzzer. In a dramatic conclusion, the Roséens emerged victorious with a hard-fought 8–7 win, successfully reclaiming the Alpina Cup and bringing it back to Le Rosey. This triumph not only highlighted the team's skill and resilience but also perfectly encapsulated the event's core spirit: a celebration of friendly competition that strengthens the bonds between these two esteemed schools.
